Guidance

Patients from far and near and new to the city approach this institution. The Centre guides them to the appropriate hospitals, doctors, and departments. The Centre also helps the people to furnish the necessary data regarding the correct financial status of the patients as they approach the hospital authorities. It helps the patients to get acquainted with different Diagnosing & Scanning Centres in the city so that they can get the diagnostic reports at lesser rates. The Centre also guides the patients to various organizations which support the patients through financial aid and providing medicines. It provides transport facilities for the poor patients to return to their homes at distant places. All the services rendered through the Guidance Centre are free.

Accommodation

There are four dormitories, meant mainly for the financially weak, which can accommodate eighty people, free of charge. In addition, this centre provides rooms for the most needy patients, undergoing Chemo therapy / Radiation therapy, and also for heart patients after surgery especially to safeguard them from infections for a nominal rent.

The Centre provides twenty four hour Ambulance service for the poor patients when they need to be moved to hospitals and back to their homes. Free ambulance service is also provided to take the dead body of poor patients to their homes. This Centre also takes up the responsibility of receiving the bodies from the hospitals and sending them to the native places along with the accompanying relatives. A well-equipped Ambulance donated by the LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation is available for the service of the inmates.  We have a new Multi-Utility Vehicle which is quietly unique for Multi-Utility need of the patients in emergency.

Prayers

Regular Prayer is conducted daily in the Chapel at 05:30 am and 07:00 pm. Representatives from the local parishes give leadership to prayer meetings. The Chapel is a place of solace in this institution, where people of different religious background can step in and pray for divine consolation and deliverance. Many times the Chapel has turned to be a place of healing and sharing of peace which the patients cherish in their minds in the midst of all their pain and agony. There is worship every morning conducted by Social Workers of the Centre and in the evening by The Mar Thoma members from the Trivandrum City Parishes. All inmates are expected to attend the worship on time.

Pain and Palliative Care Unit:

As an extension project of the Centre, a Pain & Palliative care unit was inaugurated on 17th May 2012, for catering to the desperate need of the poor cancer/terminal patients discharged from the hospitals. Mrs. & Mr. K.C. Thomas (Karimplavelil, Thiruvananthapuram) has made one of their buildings available free of cost for the new service centre, and the LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation donated one new ambulance with all modern facilities. The hospice will be a beacon of hope and relief alleviating the anguish of sufferers at the fag end of their lives.
